SOCCER

Ages 5-17, Sign-ups: Apr.-Jul. Season: Aug.-Dec.

PAL Soccer is a recreational Soccer Program involving approx. 500 children. Teams over the age of 8 years old travel to local Soccer Districts to participate in Metro PAL games. All Home games are played at Wilson School located at 1840 Benton Street.

GOLF

The 35th Annual Santa Clara P.A.L. Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, August 17, 2012, at the Santa Clara Golf and Tennis Club. Stay tuned for more details.

BMX

Ages 4 and up, Continuous Year Round

BMX has over 250 riders from in and around Santa Clara and several more from out of State participating during the year. BMX is a bicycle moto-cross program continuing throughout the year, weather permitting. Racing is Tuesday nights with sign up times being 6:00-7:00 PM; Racing ASAP, Friday nights with sign-up times being 6:30-7:30 PM; Racing ASAP; Sundays with sign ups being from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM; Racing ASAP. The BMX track is located at 5451 Lafayette Street S/O Hwy 237.

Fees: Yearly ABA membership fee $45.00 and $10.00 per rider to race on each race night. Practice only $3.00 per day; however you must be an ABA member to ride on the track. We do offer a one-day membership that can only be used once.

BOXING

Ages 13-35 years old, Continuous Year Round

Kids and young adults participate in this PAL Program. Several participants join the Amateur Boxing Association and compete Nationally. Our gym gives boxers the chance to learn the sport and compete locally.

The Santa Clara PAL program is temporarily suspended while we look for a new location.

PAL Boxing has been fortunate to have been hosted by Wilson Adult School and the Santa Clara Unified School District. We would like to thank the SCUSD for their hospitality and wish them the best with the Wilson renovations.

We will advise the public as soon as we have located a new facility for our Boxing program.

BOWLING

JUDO

Ages 5 & up, Continuous Year Round

This ancient art of Japanese wrestling teaches discipline, while developing strength and agility. Kids participate on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7-9PM at the Gymnastics’ Center (Carmichael Park) located at 3445 Benton Street. Kids also have a chance to participate in local tournaments.

PAL GAL SOFTBALL

Ages 5-18, Sign-Ups: Jan.-Apr. Season: Mar. - July

Girls participate in softball games played at Central Park, Marsalli Park and Elmer Johnson Field. Last year we had over 400 girls sign up for this program. Assignment to leagues is based on age, from T-Ball (ages 5-7) to Seniors (ages 17 & 18).

WRESTLING

Ages 5-17, Sign-Ups: Feb.-Jun. Season: Two six-week programs, one begins in March, the other in July

Santa Clara PAL offers two wrestling program sessions each year. We offer a 7-week winter program starting in February and a 6-week summer session starting in July. During the winter session, participants will also have the opportunity to compete in local tournaments. Our wrestling program is located at Cabrillo Middle School, 2550 Cabrillo Ave.

FISHING

Ages 14-18, Continuous Year Round

Lt. Dan Moreno is in charge of our fishing program. He works with local high schools and organizes 2 fishing trips a year with students. It is a great way for students to meet officers in a very positive setting.

POLICE EXPLORERS

Ages 14-20, Continuous Year Round

The Police Explorers are high school students that are interested in the field of Police work. Several PAL Explorers volunteer their time for PAL events as well as City events. You may see them in uniform at the Art and Wine Festival, PAL Boxing Shows, Soccer games or riding with officers out on the street. The Explorers receive monthly training in police related topics and assist in different Divisions in the Police Department. Officer Bill Davis supervises this program.
